New to Medicare (two-part workshop)

If you were born in 1952, more than likely you are thinking about Medicare this year. That’s right, Medicare! For those approaching age 65 or eligible for Medicare due to a disability we invite you to join the specialists at Missoula Aging Services to learn how you can make the most of your Medicare options! Be informed about important enrollment dates, limited guaranteed issue rights, how to save money on your prescription drugs and protect yourself from late enrollment penalties!

There is a lot of advice about Medicare out there: on TV, on the internet, and probably in your mailbox! It’s important to get local information, because Medicare options vary by state, and even by county. Missoula Aging Services is the local State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP), meaning you can count on us for local information that is unbiased, helping you make your own decision about Medicare coverage.

Workshop Descriptions

Part 1:  Go over the basics of your Medicare choices. This class helps people who are new to Medicare and want a complete overview of their options. Whether you choose Medicare A & B and a Part D Prescription Drug Plan, and want a Medicare Supplement, or choose a Medicare Advantage plan, this class will help you make an informed decision. In addition, options to help pay for Medicare costs for people with a limited income will be covered. 2 hours.

Part 2: Provides a hands-on computer interactive session; you’ll learn how easy it is to access your personal Medicare claims, plans & coverage, benefits & entitlements. Meets in a computer lab. BRING YOUR PRESCRIPTION DRUG LISTS! 2 hours.

To make the most of the New to Medicare Workshop, be sure to bring:

  • your favorite day planner or calendar
